53 units Energy Storage Containers Depart Directly from Xiamen to Koper, Europe — Setting a New Record
On July 29, Xiamen Port witnessed another exciting milestone: a batch of 40-ton energy storage containers set sail for the Port of Koper in Europe. This shipment included 51 units of 40-ton and 2 units of 35-ton energy storage containers, setting a new record for the largest single export of 40-ton energy storage containers from Xiamen Port. This project not only demonstrates Xiamen Port's outstanding capabilities in transporting new energy products but also marks a solid step forward for China’s new energy industry in the international market.
As a key product in the new energy sector, energy storage containers are transported as integrated containerized units filled with large volumes of lithium batteries. Widely used in the conversion, storage, and discharge of renewable energy such as wind, and solar, they are critical devices for achieving efficient energy utilization and stable power supply. With the global demand for clean energy continuing to grow, the market outlook for energy storage containers is becoming increasingly promising.
To ensure the safe and efficient shipment of these massive “power banks,” various departments at Xiamen Port worked closely together to establish a full-process “green channel.” The terminal coordinated with the client two weeks in advance, assigning dedicated personnel to handle hazardous goods declarations, transport route planning, and optimization of loading and unloading procedures. While ensuring safe operations, every effort was made to guarantee the cargo’s smooth arrival at the port.
After an orderly and intense operation, the vessel Riyadh Mukaab, operated by HAIJIE Shipping, completed loading at 23:00 on July 29 and departed in the early hours of the following day, heading directly to the Port of Koper in Europe. The route for this voyage was carefully optimized, and it is expected to reach its destination in Eastern Europe within 30 days.
This export of 40-ton energy storage containers to Europe is more than just a cargo shipment — it is a powerful showcase of Xiamen's strength in the new energy industry. It lays a solid foundation for Xiamen Port to further expand its new energy logistics business and provides strong support for Chinese new energy products to go global. With joint efforts from all parties, Xiamen Port's international influence in the new energy sector is bound to keep growing.
